大塚 茂吉と父の左十志による二人展を開催します。
月の光の下で瞑想する仏の姿を描く左十志の絵画と、心のリズムを刻むような象嵌点紋による茂吉の猫像を並べると其処に静謐な空気が流れます。
込められた”祈り”を感じていただけますと幸いです。

Ehibition: Otuka Satoshi&Mokichi “Prayer and Cat”

We will be holding a two-person exhibition by Mokichi Otsuka and his father Satoshi .
When you juxtapose Satoshi’s painting depicting a Buddha meditating under the moonlight with Mokichi’s cat statue made of inlaid dots that seem to echo the rhythm of your heart, you can feel a sense of tranquility.
We hope you can feel the “prayers” that have been put into it.

Artist biography

Born in Tokyo in 1956
Graduated from the Department of Japanese Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, and completed his graduate studies at the same university.
Graduated from G. Ballardini National School of Ceramics (Italy)
Held solo exhibitions in various cities in Italy, Paris, New York, and other parts of Japan.

【Satoshi Otsuka】

1922 Born in Tokushima Prefecture
1937 he began writing tanka poems and drawing pictures.
1942 After graduating from Tokushima Prefectural Normal School (Tokushima University), worked at Sadamitsu Elementary School, Mima District, Tokushima Prefecture.
1944 Went to Second World War
1947 Returned to work as a teacher.
1958 First Art Award winner
1967 Solo Exhibition (Suruga Taiga, Kanda)
1984 Solo exhibition (Gallery Takano, Ginza)
1990 Two-person exhibition with his second son Mokichi (Gallery Takano, Ginza)
1990 Passed away
