The aim is to introduce Contemporary Japanese Art to the audience overseas.
The artists will be travelling to join the exhibition, to interact and discuss their art with the viewers.
The Japan-Day event will be held on May 24, 2016, during the exhibition period and this project is the main focus of the events at EKO Haus.
We are also planning to offer educational and intercultural programs by the artists at EKO kindergarten situated in the site.
Title of the exhibition: Invitation to the aesthetics of space in Japanese art —’Ma’ 「間」
‘Ma’, expressed in kanji 「間」 in Japanese, does not refer to distance, but to the relation between two objects or incidents -the space or pause between their positioning or timing.
One has to be astutely conscious of it to feel this ‘Ma’
It needs to be seen by the mind’s eye. It exists everywhere- between the artist and the captured objects, the art works, the viewers..
The ‘Ma’ conceived only with the mind’s eye is indispensable when appreciating art. but at the same time, its interpretation is free without any boundaries or rules.
‘Ma’ is held within each and every one of us, and interestingly, its is firmly rooted and affected by our ‘Heart of prayer’ and ‘Love’.
